ZZ TOP AFINA EN “LA GRANGE” ANTES DEL LANZAMIENTO DEL ÁLBUM RAW

 

El viernes 22 de abril, los fanáticos de ZZ Top reciben una segunda oferta de RAW, el nuevo álbum del legendario grupo que se lanzará el 22 de julio de Shelter Records/BMG. Esa pista es "La Grange" y, como las otras 11 selecciones del álbum, fue grabada en Gruene Hall en New Braunfels, TX.

“La Grange” es uno de los sellos distintivos del catálogo de éxitos de ZZ Top y se escuchó por primera vez en 1973 como parte de su revolucionario álbum Tres Hombres. Como sencillo, fue el lanzamiento más exitoso que la banda había experimentado hasta ese momento y se convertiría en una canción emblemática del grupo durante casi cinco décadas. La canción es una especie de homenaje a "The Chicken Ranch", un burdel de la vida real que estaba ubicado en la ciudad de La Grange, a solo 88 millas de New Braunfels. “La Grange” anticipó la historia, escrita por Larry L. King, que sirvió de base para el musical de Broadway The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. La versión cinematográfica protagonizó a Dolly Parton como Mona Stangley, propietaria del muy célebre establecimiento. El difunto Dusty Hill recordó una vez: “Poco después de que se lanzó el disco, lo cerraron, y yo anduve y pasé mucho tiempo en Texas explicando a la gente que no teníamos nada que ver con eso”. Las pistas RAW, incluida esta nueva versión de "La Grange", se grabaron en el transcurso de un día con el objetivo de mantener todo el proceso lo más simple y directo posible, un guiño a los primeros días de la banda. Billy F Gibbons se desempeñó como productor con la ingeniería de Jake Mann y Gary Moon; RAW fue mezclado por Ryan Hewitt. Estará disponible en vinilo de 180 gramos, CD y a través de plataformas digitales y se lanzará “En memoria justa de Dusty Hill”.

El lanzamiento del álbum RAW contará con el apoyo del próximo RAW WHISKEY TOUR de ZZ Top. La gira, que comenzará el 27 de mayo en San Diego, CA, verá a la banda en el escenario en 100 fechas en América del Norte, y se anunciarán más fechas hoy. El título de la gira es un homenaje tanto al próximo álbum como al reciente lanzamiento del whisky ZZ Top Tres Hombres de Balcones Distilling de Waco, TX, un sabroso puré de 100 grados de maíz azul tostado, cebada malteada y centeno.
